Winter’s icy grip challenges countless families worldwide, particularly those already struggling with poverty, displacement, or economic hardship. For families like Rasheda’s in Bangladesh, Nadwa’s in Lebanon, and Ahmad’s in Afghanistan, winter is not just a season but a battle for survival. This year, our winter relief projects are providing essential support to families in seven countries, and we need your help to bring warmth and hope to those who need it most.
The Need on the Ground
In Bangladesh, the cold season threatens the health of vulnerable groups, especially the elderly and children. Families like Rasheda Khatun’s, who live in drafty tin-shed homes, endure biting cold with little more than fires made of straw for warmth. Without adequate clothing, blankets, or access to warm water, illnesses like pneumonia and asthma become common—and often life-threatening.
In Lebanon’s Akkar region, Syrian refugees like Nadwa and her family share cramped tents that barely hold against winter rains and freezing winds. The cold and wet conditions lead to persistent illnesses among children, while parents struggle to provide food, warmth, and medical care in a deepening economic crisis. Their resilience in such hardship is inspiring, but they cannot do it alone.
In Afghanistan, Ahmad, a father of four, faces the harsh winter with no job and limited resources. His family, like many others, struggles with respiratory illnesses caused by the freezing temperatures. Without help, they risk health complications and the emotional toll of enduring winter without hope.
How We Make a Difference
Thanks to your support, our winter relief projects provide comprehensive aid tailored to the unique challenges faced by these communities. Last year, we distributed winter kits to thousands of families like Rasheda’s, Nadwa’s, and Ahmad’s, including items such as:
