Oussama is a passionate people-oriented nonprofit leader who enjoys diagnosing, resolving and transforming nonprofits so they can best serve their mission.
Since joining the nonprofit sector 14 years ago, he has amassed experience in diverse areas from research and advocacy to program management and fund development. He has held various positions in a number of diverse nonprofits in the UK and the US, including Campaigns Managers, Chief of Staff, VP Programs and Board Secretary.
Since July 2016, he has served as the Founder CEO of Penny Appeal USA. Since launching in 2016, we have raised over $20 million USD for our range of humanitarian programs, and have experienced an average growth of 58% in the last three fiscal years.
He currently serves as a Board Director at the Institute of Social Policy and Understanding, a DC based nonprofit organization that provides objective research and education about American Muslims to support well-informed dialogue and decision-making. The board was recognized this year as being a ‘best-practice’ board by the Center for Nonprofit Advancement who awarded ISPU the 2020 Board Leadership Award. HE also serves as Board Director for the Our Three Winners Foundation, a foundation whose vision is a diverse, compassionate and inclusive America that is free of prejudice and hate.
He holds a BA in History from Queen Mary, University of London and a Law Degree from the University of Oxford, where he attended Somerville College. He is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and holds a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Executive Management from the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University. He also holds a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Financial Stewardship from the Harvard Kennedy School.
